The ARGOS emitter number enables the identification of the platform and recovery of the data that it sent. It is an ARGOS code. This code is converted into the vessel call sign when the data is put over the GTS.
The WMO code, transmitted with the data has two parts:
- 21 = interface CLS-ARGOS/Protecno modèle 1
- 22 = interface CLS-ARGOS/Protecno modèle 2
- 99 = unknown
(The new BATHY code, designated JJYY, went into effect on NOVEMBER 8, 1995. The new code contains table entries for probe and recorder types and fall-rate equation coefficients a & b. See Joint IOC-WMO Circular Letters IGOSS Sp. 95-95 and 95-96 for further information)
